Been back for a little bit, and while overall, the trip was a lot of fun, but I gotta say its so different from the states. I feel like I'm walking in chinatown 24/7. It tantanlizes all the senses.

First sense: Smell. You know the smell of chinatown? You know the nice fragrance perfume when you walk into a department store? Now mix those two together multiply it by 10, include some pungent funk here and there, add in 75% humidity and hella hot weather. It's like being in a restaurant, restroom, club, sauna and apothecary all at once. Kinda used to it though. I do love the smell of random foods cooking alongside the streets. Po Lin Temple and Wong Tai Sin almost choked me out with incense. Tai-O smells like fish. Can’t say much overall about smell cuz I think too much would have been hazardous to my health.  Overall Rating: 3/5

Second sense: Sight. HK is a very pretty place. It’s a place where modern and old collide, providing an urban metropolis surrounded by old traditional style. There’s so many places to go and see, from Lantau Island, Macau to the little towns and villages. But it also seems every other block has a 4 story mall with the exact same shop as the other one. Overall, still love the HK skyline from TST and the Peak. On another note, Nissan Skyline count after 3 weeks: 20…kinda disappointing. Everyone else appears to drive a MBZ or BMW. It also seems that better looking people hang out in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Lan Kwai Fong (aside from the illegal kind.) Overall Rating: 4/5

Third Sense: Feel/Touch. I wouldn’t mind living there and all, except that it is so friggin hot! Luckily there’s a 7-11 (which I only found one to have slurpee!) or Circle-K every other block to provide a variety of drinks and HUGE boxes of vitasoy. But I swear, going in and out of places is also like going from an oven into the fridge back and forth like 30 times in a day in 20 minute intervals so often that I think my immune system has gone down. Once you go outside, there’s a muggy stickiness and stuffiness that overwhelms you. And when there’s so many people, it can get quite unpleasant especially on packed buses and trams. However, aside from the griminess, the crazy motion sickness and a queasy stomach, I would say HK has a much better public transport system than the US, since automobile maintenance cost so much (filling up costs about $80 US dollars!) I want to give a generalization about the bathrooms, but it ranges from the cleanest, most modern facilities I’ve ever seen to some of the dirtiest, slippery floor, no TP and reason-why-people-carry-around-packs-of-tempo utter filth locations. Overall Rating 2/5

Fourth Sense: Taste. HK has so many different things to eat and everything is so good, that I even our fast food restaurants over there seem amazingly high class! I went to a Pizza Hut and felt as if I was in a 5 star restaurant, ordering soft shell crab pizzas and different rice plates and BBQ stuff. Their McD’s menu over there is also far superior than here, with things like Korean BBQ Beef wraps, Mango shell ice cream and the works. Of course, there’s also many fine restaurants that are very decently priced. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much in my life, especially when no one else eats much and you have to clear the table. Kitgara gave the biggest pieces of sushi and the biggest bowl of ramen (or anything of that matter ) I’ve ever seen, while New Century served up some pretty good dim sum. My food list can go on and on, but my biggest goal for food in HK was to try the Dai Pai Dangs and the streetside vendors. I just had to try official Fried Pork Intestines, Fishballs and Stinky Tofu and I must say it was damn good. We went to one of the DPD’s in Sha Tin, and I think I found a new love in Chiu Chow food. Overall Rating 5/5.

Fifth Sense: Noises/Sounds. Suprisingly, it wasn't particularly noisy beyond the "loud chinese people" stereotype that makes us look like we have no voice modulation. But I think I fall right into the stereotype. It was interesting hearing everything in mandarin, cantonese and english as well as everybody bumpin Canto Pop. But overall, for a metro area, it wasn't too noisy; nor did anything particularly stick out as spectacular. The loudest places I went to was probably the arcades, which you can't hear a dang thing in there! I swear, they probably set each machine's volume to maximum and then added a few notches just for kicks (which btw everyone over there is a KOF freak...which I love KOF myself but all the buttons are reversed! Screw your bizarro ways!) On another note, I tried to speak chinese as much as possible, but I don't think it improved at all. In fact, people keep telling me how bad my chinese was (which I don't deny.) But on the other hand, I'm thinking they would say the same for anybody that doesn't look HK and even
native HK people with accents were criticized. Overall rating 3/5.

Sixth Sense: ???. Nothing that I noticed. I don't think i have a sixth sense.
Overall rating N/A.

So theres a quick (or not so quick) summary of my experience. Pics will have to wait later since I have just been told that there are about a thousand and some odd pics to sort through and it might take a while. Keep you updated!

Times almost up here in HK, must say, its interesting. So far, was able to meet up with old fart MFer Honfai "Geoffrey" Cheung after like 2 years! Foo hasn't changed a bit except he can't take punches like he used to. =) Gettin soft eh? Hit up the arcade just like before, kickin his ass and all.  Hopefully get to see you if you get back to the states so I can give you a further ass whoopin  =P. Was also able to meet up with Rachel for a bit in Mong Kok and chill. I must admit, Lavender Gelato is not very tasty unless you like eating flowers =). However, did eat some kick ass sushi and shopped for hella cheap movies. Serious, hope they let me through customs with all the shit I got...Went broke half way through our outting! hahaha I know, embarrassing, but I know you understand! =) Thanks for showing me around the area and puttin up with me! Haven't taken many pictures though, left that all to other people. So I'll post what I can whenever they give me any. Bout to head out again into the swelter, but I'll update again soon.

It has been such a draining and tiring week. So I'm finally done with my job and now taking a little break before studying for GMATs. Went drove to socal to make a few deserved visits. First off, Congrats to my cousin Ken for tyin the knot, all pimped out. An amazing wedding and reception. Wish both of you a great future together! Next went to UCLA to see my HS friend Dave and chilled out at his crib for a few days. It was great catchin up with old times and talking it up as well as reverting to our nerd (and reason we were single) ways of the old days with some DoTA as well as (1,2,3) (1,4,5) (1,6,7) and Pairs coin theories.

Next, gotta give propz and love to my girl at UCI Lily Wen for finally gradumacating and gettin into the labor force so quickly. (Even though at the ceremony, you took me on a wild chase through an unfamiliar campus looking for you! =P) I forgive you. I'm glad I got to see you b4 you started workin and using it as an excuse to not see me LOL j/p!!! But I had a crazy time hangin with you at Catalina. You are officially the bizarro-FOB for missing our boat twice!!! hahaha I can't explain how much fun I had. =) An awesome trip with an awesome person (Goddam can you eat ice cream! LOL WAFFLE CONES!)

Flew back to SJ in time to wish my brothers Ray and Danny a happy bday on the the 23rd and the 25th. Finally got to see Josephine after a week! =)  Hit up Lion & Compass in Sunnyvale with her, her brother Jeff and my two bros for an interesting dining experience. Babe, I must say, your pork chop tasted like it was marinated with Frito's spices hahaha =) But still nice. Steaks were great. Slow service. Missed the gueslist for Club NV by like 5 minutes. Shit. Soooo instead of the regular $5 charge, had to pay $20 a person (x2). Yes, I felt screwed by the anal raping NV dealt me, but it was Dan's night so whatever. Decent evening with some of his ladies which concluded with meeting up with our cousin Ivan and his group at a night club/bar in the Sunset reminiscent of scenes from Young and Dangerous.

Got home at 5am in time to leave for a 7am river rafting trip in Modesto. Hella fun but my shins look boiled from sunburn. At least I didn't get farmers tan. Overall Experience: definite plus. Runnin on caffeine now. One day used to pack for 3 weeks in Hong Kong and take care of any remaining issues before taking off Monday afternoon. Its down to the wire.

THATS RIGHT! BE AFRAID HONG KONG CUZ JOHN'S COMING!

After weeks of trying, I have triumphantly acquired the "Mystery Inside Darth Vader" from the Burger King kids meal! Thanks to the super cool employees of the Mountain View BK, I got first dibs on a fresh, unopened box of toys (They must have pitied seeing me everyday ordering a grip of kids meals. ) I have hit a new level of dork. I might as well bust out my 12 sided die and see if I'm successful on the save roll.

On another note, after 3 weeks of having hamburgers, sodas and fries and almost completing the set, I finally found out I can replace the fries for apple sauce and soda for juice .  To my health and body, I'm sorry. Sooooo sorry. I promise never to do that to you again.
